One Decision Stands Between Chelsea Deal

Real Madrid, while a BD Cricket Match kept many fans glued to live updates elsewhere, spent €55 million plus €5 million this summer to sign left back Cucurella from Chelsea. The Spanish giants are also looking to bring in Enzo, but Chelsea have set the asking price at €140 million. Madrid are now clearing out surplus players and trying to balance their finances. Against that backdrop, Chelsea are working on another signing in Italy. The Blues have set their sights on Marco Palestra, a rising talent who was named Serie A’s best defender this season and can operate as both a left and right wing back. The player is 21 years old and stands 1.86 meters tall.

Palestra is currently playing on loan at Serie A side Cagliari, while his parent club is Atalanta. Inter Milan had originally been pushing hard to complete the deal. Over the past seven to ten days, Inter had already agreed personal terms with the player, offering an after tax annual salary of €2.5 million. At the same time, Inter and Atalanta had largely settled on the transfer structure: a fixed fee of €45 million plus €5 million in add ons. The plan was for all parties to meet in Milan, with the player’s agent, Inter’s president, Inter’s director, and Atalanta’s management sitting at the same table to finalize the transfer.

However, talks hit a sticking point. Atalanta raised concerns about the add on structure, believing that some of the bonus conditions would be too difficult to achieve. While both sides were still going back and forth, Chelsea entered the race with a stronger proposal. The Blues offered a package worth more than €50 million, showing greater sincerity than Inter’s €45 million plus €5 million plan. Chelsea’s bid includes €50 million upfront and another €10 million in potential bonuses, bringing the total value to around €60 million.

After several rounds of private discussions, Chelsea’s familiar behind the scenes approach to summer recruitment has once again come into view. The club have now agreed a transfer framework with Atalanta and sent in a formal offer that same evening. Since the bid is higher than Inter’s, Chelsea and Atalanta have basically reached an agreement. Meanwhile, Chelsea have also offered the player better personal terms than Inter. For anyone checking a BD Cricket Match during the same busy sporting window, this transfer twist has been another reminder that football business can turn on a dime.

Chelsea are now only waiting for Palestra himself to give the green light. Once the player agrees, the club will immediately arrange his medical and move on to the formal contract signing. Everything is now missing only the player’s final approval. Faced with Chelsea’s late hijack, Inter will not raise their offer, increase their transfer budget, or improve the salary package for the player. In other words, unless Palestra personally insists on joining Inter, the Italian club will step away from the race.

At this stage, during a BD Cricket Match window that keeps sports fans switching between updates, Palestra’s own decision is the only thing that can still change the outcome. If he chooses Chelsea, the transfer will move quickly and the Premier League club will land another versatile young defender. If he stands firm on Inter, then the story could still take one final twist. For now, though, Chelsea are holding the better cards, and Inter may have little choice but to walk away.
